Aura Vision Expands Its Micro LED Technology Portfolio With MIP

Aura Vision, a European LED display manufacturer focused on professional and mission-critical applications, has launched COMET-M, a new fine-pitch Micro LED display built around MIP (Micro LED in Package) technology.

Developed as part of Aura Vision's continued investment in high-performance Micro LED, COMET-M joins a portfolio engineered for environments including control rooms, broadcast, corporate and transportation, where display quality, reliability and long-term performance are fundamental.

Available in 0.7 mm and 0.9 mm pixel pitches, COMET-M introduces a different approach to Micro LED packaging within the Aura Vision portfolio. It sits alongside the company's existing Flip-Chip COB platforms, giving Aura Vision two technologies through which to continue developing its fine-pitch Micro LED range.

The decision to invest in MIP reflects the continued development taking place within fine-pitch LED. By packaging Micro LED chips individually before they are assembled onto the display module, MIP offers advantages in areas including colour consistency and contrast, while also providing a route towards increasingly fine pixel pitches.

“MIP is an important technology for us because it gives us another route for developing fine-pitch Micro LED,” said Ricardo Teixeira, Technical Manager at Aura Vision. “We have invested heavily in Flip-Chip COB and will continue to do so, but we don't believe there will be one technology that is right for every application. With COMET-M, we can develop MIP alongside COB and use the strengths of each where they make sense.”

For COMET-M, those strengths have been applied to environments where displays are viewed at close range and image consistency across the complete display is particularly important. Broadcast studios and control rooms are natural applications, alongside corporate and other professional environments where fine detail, colour reproduction and stable image performance are required.

COMET-M supports 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 22-bit grayscale processing and native 10-bit HDR, with a 7,840 Hz refresh rate and 120 Hz frame frequency. The display delivers 800 nits of brightness with ≥98% brightness uniformity and a 170° horizontal and vertical viewing angle.

“Once you move into very fine pixel pitches and shorter viewing distances, the way the complete display performs becomes increasingly important,” Teixeira explained. “It isn't simply about achieving a smaller pixel pitch. Colour consistency, contrast and how the image behaves across the screen all contribute to the viewing experience, and these are areas where MIP gives us some interesting advantages.”

Efficiency has also been a focus in the development of COMET-M. At 800 nits, COMET-M has a maximum power consumption of ≤250 W/m² and average consumption of ≤85 W/m².

COMET-M uses the same 609.6 × 342.9 mm precision cabinet platform as Aura Vision's COMET-C PRO range. Full front service access supports maintenance without requiring rear access, while dual power and signal redundancy options are available for environments where display availability is critical. The front of the display is IP65 rated, providing additional protection to the LED surface.

An early beta version of COMET-M was first shown at ISE 2026 in Barcelona, giving visitors an initial look at Aura Vision's development of MIP technology ahead of the planned launch later in the year.

The final version of COMET-M was previewed at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam ahead of its official launch, where it was demonstrated in broadcast control room environments on the IHSE and Black Box stands. The preview gave Aura Vision an opportunity to gather feedback directly from broadcast and control room professionals, with COMET-M receiving a positive response throughout the show.

“The response at IBC has been very positive,” Teixeira added. “It was important for us to put COMET-M in front of people who work with this technology every day and let them see the display for themselves. It also gave us the opportunity to talk about why we are investing in MIP and where we see it fitting alongside the other technologies in our portfolio.”
